Case Studies
Boston University Terriers' Agganis Arena: a multi-purpose arena that holds 6,300 spectators for hockey and ice shows. The truss span is larger than that of the Penn Stae Ice Arena. Contacts for this case study for MEP design were team members of Cannon Design.
New Jersey Devils' Prudential Center
|
Niagara University Purple Eagles' Dwyer Arena: Division 3 ice hockey arena designed by Cannon Design. HPR visited the arena in October 2011. |
Pittsburgh Penguins' Consol Energy Center: the Pittsburgh Penguins arena is the first LEED Gold Certified NHL arena. Primary construction team on this project was PJ Dick Construction.
Contacts:
Shaun Mason - Project Manager for PJ Dick Construction who worked on CEC
Theresa McCue - LEED Coordinator for PJ Dick Construction
Jeff Turconi - Executive Vice President for PJ Dick Construction
Ed Hornfeck - Mechanical Engineer for M-E Engineers
George Reiher - Lighting/Electrical Engineer for M-E Engineers
Art Hortua - Structural Engineer for Thornton-Tomasetti: worked on CEC & Penn State Ice Arena
|
University of Notre Dame's Compton Family Ice Arena: this arena was used for price point comparison of the arena seating. The Compton Family Ice Arena is designed very similiar to that of the Penn State Ice Arena. The truss span is smaller than that of the Penn State Ice Arena. |
